Picking the right photographer is crucial. They’ll not only capture your memories but also help with location scouting, vendor referrals, and logistics. Here are some tips for finding the perfect match:

Look for a photographer whose personality clicks with yours
Choose someone who’s genuinely excited to help make your day special
Find someone with experience shooting in Glacier and familiarity with the park’s guidelines
Ensure their photography style aligns with your vision

3. Best Times to Get Married in Glacier

July to Early October: Perfect for warm weather and full access to Going-to-the-Sun Road but expect more crowds (especially in July/August).
October: Crisp fall air and vibrant foliage—ideal for fewer crowds, but keep in mind some park areas will close.
May to June: Great for wildflowers and fewer tourists, though parts of the park may still be inaccessible, and the weather can be unpredictable.
November to April: Winter weddings offer seclusion and snowy landscapes, but park access is limited. If you're okay with chilly weather, this could be the most intimate experience.

4. Finding Your Ceremony Spot

Glacier Park has designated areas for ceremonies, and each has specific group size limits. Here are my top picks:

Big Bend: 10 people max, year-round
Apgar Amphitheater: 250 people, year-round
Pray Lake: 30 people max, year-round
Sun Point: 20 people max, year-round
Ryan’s Beach: 15-20 people max, depending on the season

Ask your photographer about what location fits your vision. If you’re unsure, just ask and I will help you navigate the park :)

5. Navigating Permits and Park Access

Elopement Permits

You’ll need a permit to have your ceremony in Glacier. Apply as soon as possible—permits are available no more than a year in advance and no later than 20 days before your date. Here’s the process:

Complete the permit application
Pay the $125 non-refundable fee
Await confirmation from the park
Bring a copy of the permit on your wedding day

Vehicle Reservation vs. Entrance Fee

Vehicle Reservations: Required for certain park areas from May to September between 6 AM and 3 PM. Reservations open 120 days in advance or can be booked the night before at 7 PM MST.) There could be a potential change in the way vehicle reservations are booked, because the state revises the policy every year, so make sure to check: https://www.nps.gov/glac/
Entrance Fee: Required for park access and can be purchased online or at the gate, and you can get a Standard or Yearly Pass!

Pro Tip: If you enter before 6 AM or after 3 PM, you won’t need a vehicle reservation, but keep an eye on the updated Vehicle Reservation policy for 2025 because the times might change!

6. Booking Lodging & Vendors

Consider staying inside the park for a full immersion experience or choose a nearby Airbnb for convenience. Campsites and lodges fill up quickly, so book early. Lake Mcdonald Lodge is beautiful and totally recommend visiting if you cannot stay there!

You’ll also need to book vendors such as florists, and hairstylists, etc. If you work with me, I’ll provide a list of local vendors I recommend, making your planning even easier.

7. Packing Essentials for Your Elopement

Extra clothes (to change or in case its cold)
